That would be even more intuitive than a single VR controller. I would also like to see hand-tracking controls. Currently, you still need a web tool for Stories. In the medium to long term, you should be able to add GPS maps more easily and create immersive stories (see changelog). The good news is that the startup wants to simplify image transfer. There is no direct connection to the smartphone.

Or you have to access your Dropbox via the Oculus Browser and download the photos individually (see the following video tutorial). To view pictures in the VR app, you either have to download them from your computer to the VR headset via cable first (e.g. Is immerGallery a worthy successor? No, unfortunately not (yet). Oculus Gallery was a great VR app that Meta secretly removed from the Oculus Store without giving any reason. This gave a different quality to photos that I would otherwise only view in small format on my smartphone and allowed me to discover new details. I remember when I could access images from my smartphone or Dropbox directly in VR with the Oculus Go using Oculus Gallery and view them in large format.

The next update should fix this problem by allowing users to adjust the position of the 2D and 3D canvas in the menus. This is not ideal, especially for 2D images in portrait mode, as you have to look far up to see the entire photo, which distorts it in perspective. Currently, the VR app displays them at a fixed size and distance. What I miss with 2D images is the ability to move, zoom in and out of 2D images in space. The trailer highlights the most important features.

ImmerGallery is the first VR app from German startup immerVR. By the latter, I mean images in the classic rectangular format taken with a stereo camera. The VR app supports immersive formats (mono and stereoscopic 180- and 360-degree images) as well as 2D and 3D photos.
